About Us

Welcome to Arukah Worm Farm, a small family-run business rooted in Newington, Ontario. Founded by husband and wife team, Stephen Tuitt and Jessica Theriault, along with our children Gordon, William, and Madeleine in early 2025. We chose the name Arukah because it speaks to our deepest purpose: bringing healing and restoration to the soil, our gardens, and ultimately to the way we live with the land.

At Arukah, we produce premium worm castings and nutrient-rich liquid extracts, carefully crafted with excellent inputs to ensure they’re teeming with beneficial microbes. Our products are always fresh, local, and made with thoughtful attention, supporting healthier soil and more vibrant plants.

Whether you’re a home gardener, small farmer, or simply a plant lover who delights in watching things grow, we’re here to support your journey. When you choose Arukah Worm Farm, you’re not just feeding your garden;

you’re partnering with a family dedicated to cultivating life, health, and a little more wholeness in the world around us.

From our years living and working in the Canadian Arctic to starting fresh in the South, our family has always been driven by a deep respect for the land and a commitment to meaningful work. That journey led us to build Arukah Work Farm—a space where restoration, community, and sustainable growing come together. Here are a few highlights from our path so far.

Life in the Arctic

We spent ten unforgettable years in Iqaluit, Nunavut, where we not only built our family but also formed lifelong memories. Living in the heart of the Arctic, we immersed ourselves in the vibrant culture of the North, learning about the rich traditions, language, and history of the Inuit people. Our time in Iqaluit was filled with moments of awe, from witnessing the breathtaking Northern Lights to building lasting friendships with a diverse and welcoming community. Every day brought new adventures and lessons, and we feel incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have lived in such a unique and resilient place. It was truly a chapter of our lives that shaped us in ways we’ll cherish forever.

A New Chapter

After a decade in Iqaluit, we embarked on a new chapter, moving south to Ontario and purchasing a 5-acre property that was a true fixer-upper. The house was in need of a lot of love, so we rolled up our sleeves and gutted it down to the studs, transforming it into our dream home. It wasn’t just about the renovation—it was about coming together as a family. Every weekend, our extended family rallied to help, whether it was tearing down walls or laying floors. Each project brought us closer, and with every little victory, we felt more rooted in our new life. It was the beginning of our next big adventure, one built on hard work, determination, and the support of the people we loved.

Worms, worms, worms

At the beginning of 2025, we officially launched our worm farming business—a project that had been in the works for months. We invested a great deal of time and effort into preparing our outbuildings, adding insulation and heat, and building custom 8-foot by 3-foot bins to house the worms. Since then, the growth has been incredible. We’re now caring for an estimated 300,000 to 500,000 red wiggler worms and about 70,000 European night crawlers. What started as a dream has become a thriving business, and we’re proud to offer high-quality worm castings in both granular and liquid form, helping customers enrich their soil and support more sustainable growing practices.

We're still growing, learning from each other, and from the people we meet along the way. Whether you're here for gardening tips, curious about worm castings, or just rooting for a simpler, more sustainable way of living, we're glad you're here. We invite you to follow along, share in the journey, and maybe even get your hands a little dirty with us.
